Well 2011 has been an amazing year (although it started shit according to my post early in the year). Too much went by without me blogging to remember which is a shame haha so i'll just list things I remember off the top of my head now; - Went to Sydney twice! First time was early in the year - February I think. I went with my 'family' and stayed with my cousin and his room mate. It was pretty good staying at their's but lets just say I accidentally found something that confirmed my skeptical thoughts about my cousin...which I will probably forever remember :l It was also really nice meeting Sydney friends and just the freedom of exploring and shopping alone in the big city. It was still a little awkward seeing my 2nd cousins and their family again. Awkward because they speak full on cantonese and I suck at it so I kind of just told them I don't speak it lol and I also realised that I think I get along more or at least have more confidence in talking to people my own age. Second time was with Le Crew. I learnt too much about them during that trip haha I remember everyone kind of took a break from each other after that. It was really fun travelling&living with friends though, I'd definitely do it again! Lots of staying up late drinking, talking and just chilling. - Soundwave- Definitely lots of amazing shows. I remember being so devo'd missing Bullet for my Valentine's guitar picks 3 times because they were thrown in my direction. I swear Mike & I had eye contact hahaha - Disturbed concert! It was held on Easter Saturday I remember. Most amaaaazing show! But i have to admit I enjoyed Trivium who were the supporting act more than them but they were still great nonetheless. A miracle happened an I managed to get a guitar pick and so did Hien my moshing buddy :3 - Started my med rad course at uni. Of course I knew it wasn't definitely what I wanted to do but it was manageable and interesting I guess and I don't know what else I'd be studying instead. Met lots of awesome friends on campus and I think we're a pretty cute group. We don't do stuff like get smashed, club or fine dining. We do lame homey stuff like board games, basketball, picnics, cafes, eating at each other's family restaurants and a beer every now and then. I think my most favourite experience with them was crabbing. We were driving in 4 cars to a beach really far up north which only should've taken us 1 and a half hours but half of us left first and the other half left after so we were separated in that sense. I was in the latter half and we were just chilling, driving and following our friend's car infront of us but they took a wrong turn and we got lost .__. we ended up on the beach next to the one we were supposed to be at. My friend decided to live life on the edge and drive through a mound of seaweed in which he obviously got stuck in so then him and my other friend had to push while i drive. After lots of driving around (no help from gps which told us to drive into a road that said 'no access to _____ beach', in which they did which was silly but we had to follow anyway because there was no phone service and we'd get separated and then to turn a non-existent road). We got there in the end though! took us 3 hours and it had already gotten dark but we made it! Didn't find any crabs but had a nice bonfire in the dark and marshmallows and campfire songs so it was pretty sweet. The wind and cold was terrible though! - Another favourite thing about uni apart from my new friendships is probably my anatomy tutor. He's got the cutest personality and attitude because although he has an accent he's always so happy and enthusiastic about anatomy which is awesome. He'd always talk to us and help us out too! It wasn't till the end of the year that we found out he'd actually a medical doctor who used to work as a surgeon. I always thought we was a researcher or or something and my friend thought he was a physiotherapist. I will never forget the time when he fingered a female cadaver in one of the demonstrations hahaha. - Caution: Laser Beam - Joined a band early in the year. It was fun while it lasted but I kind of felt like I was dragging everyone down because I was the least skilled and confident. I only joined because I wanted to take more chances that year and not let opportunities slip by like I always do because of my low self esteem and seeing as a friend was having a hard time finding a drummer, I offered to play with them. It was also forever awkward because everyone was in the same friendship group except me but I tried to talk and be friendly whenever I could. They were a pretty cool bunch and I'm glad to have met them. The band just kind of drifted and died but it would've been nice to finish recording that one song we wrote in the studio. Although I also felt myself getting lazy with the band, it was a good experience. - Lots of parties & going out - They're always fun haha. Love celebrating with my lovely friends on their birthdays. For my 18th this year I was pretty lazy in organising something so I didn't do anything for it except last minute clubbing in which I only invited close friends like Le Crew and Med Radicals. It was pretty sweet of my uni friends to make a 'surprise' party at uni though (they were pretty suss) haha. - Tafe - Oh yeah I started doing Mandarin at tafe. It's pretty slack and I don't feel like I've learnt anything but that's not true. I just feel like I could be learning so much more than I am right now. Classes are chilled and we don't do much work but the thing is it's toooo chilled. My teacher's teaching style is to do lots of conversation so you only learn things you'd actually use and to also learn speaking first and then we can go learn reading/writing later. I don't like that teaching style because it's too easy and I really don't remember much of what I learn unless its repetitive throughout weeks. I learn by doing exercises and writing and lots of repetition so D: I'd still like to continue learning mandarin because I hope to become fluent but I'm probably going to have to be more studious and put in my own work and efforts into it. As well as this, I feel that I'm lacking in French now that I'm not studying it anymore or using it much which saddens me. I'd also like to revise Japanese again and get the basics down packed and refreshed~ - Christmas, spent with Le Crew at Chi's house. It was still fun even though we didn't do much and it was awkies with Chi's other friends. We mucked around in his room, changing things around and making meth lines on is desk hehehe. Going home was my favourite because Martin's and Kevin's car were side too side at the traffic lights and then Trinh throws Kevin's meth bag over through the open window and it misses Kevin who's in the driver's seat but HITS WILLIAM IN THE FACE AHAHAHA (I swear it did even though he said it didn't D:) - NYE - Last minute plans spent with uni friends at michelle's place. We lives like sooo far D: but she has an amazing view of Adelaide from where she lives. We just did cute stuff like jenga and cranium which everyone probably thinks is lame but it was actually pretty fun. Then later we drive down to Brighton beach to chill with a guitar and watch fireworks. We then started off the year 2012 doing tarot cards which freaked everyone out haha. That's all i have from 2011 for now off the top of my head (and help of tagged facebook pictures). I want to add pictures but I'm too lazy to do that now. I might do it some other time. But from now on I will be doing weekly blogs of 2012 so I don't forget any great memories & experiences! |
